Netflix Drops Trailer for Korean Horror Series Dead-End Job Starring Lee Jae-wook

Netflix has released the first teaser and poster for the Korean series Dead-End Job (original title: 꿀알바), a supernatural thriller about a deadly gig. All eight episodes will premiere on the platform on October 30, 2026. The project builds on the theme of social inequality popular in South Korean cinema, combining the desperation of debtors with paranormal horror.
Nightmares Instead of Easy Money
The plot centers on Hyuk-joon, played by Lee Jae-wook (Alchemy of Souls). Drowning in debt, the young man out of desperation answers a shady job posting from a mysterious employment agency called Spider Staffing. The head of the agency (Lee Hee-jun) offers him a shift at an ordinary convenience store. The pay is staggering—50 times the minimum hourly wage—with one strict condition: the worker must keep absolute silence about everything that happens during the shift.
As Netflix details in its official announcement, the routine side gig instantly turns into a surreal nightmare. The protagonist has to fight off swarms of moths, encounter a creepy clown, and face other anomalies directly threatening his life. According to Soompi, as Hyuk-joon survives one shift after another, his pay continues to rise, forcing the desperate guy to take on ever-increasing risks.
A man drowning in debt gets a mysterious gig that pays 50 times the minimum wage… as long as he never reveals what happens at work.

Who Is Behind the Series
On social media, the concept of Dead-End Job has already been dubbed a hybrid of Severance and Squid Game due to its focus on a toxic and lethal work environment. However, the streamer avoids direct comparisons and positions the project as an independent genre mix of mystery, fantasy, and survival story.
The director’s chair was taken by Kim Da-min, who previously wrote the screenplay for another Netflix hit, A Killer Paradox. Overall creative leadership of the project was assumed by Han Jun-hee, who made a name for himself with gritty social dramas D.P. and Weak Hero. Alongside Lee Jae-wook and Lee Hee-jun, the cast includes prominent actresses such as Go Min-si (Sweet Home) and Kim Min-ha (Pachinko).
