EA Sports FC 27 Earns $714 Million in 19 Days — the Biggest Premium Release of 2026

EA Sports FC 27 is now the top-selling premium game of 2026 by copies sold. According to Alinea Analytics, the soccer simulator has sold about 7.9 million copies since early access began, generating roughly $714.1 million.

Early access kicked off on September 18, with the full release following on September 25. By September 27, FC 27 had overtaken Resident Evil Requiem in estimated revenue to become the year’s top new paid game.

Notably, the $714 million figure covers copy sales only on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. Revenue from in-game purchases, including Football Ultimate Team, is not included in this estimate.

PlayStation Drives More Than 80% of Revenue

PlayStation remains the franchise’s main platform, accounting for 77.1% of copies sold, while Xbox takes 15.9% and Steam 7%.

The gap is even wider in dollar terms. Alinea estimates revenue at $573.9 million on PlayStation, $106 million on Xbox and $34.2 million on Steam.

The PS5 version grew especially fast. Over a comparable period, FC 26 brought in about $323.6 million on PS5, while FC 27 has already reached $506.7 million. Total copies sold, however, stayed roughly flat compared with last year’s installment.

Overall revenue rose about 14%, meaning EA earned significantly more from an audience of roughly the same size.

Pricier editions and early access are among the reasons. Before the standard release, players had already bought about 4 million copies for $400 million — more than half of the current total. Some premium versions cost up to $150.

Discs Keep Losing Ground

On PlayStation, only 8.2% of sales were physical copies — about 501,000 units. The rest of buyers went digital, helped along by bonuses tied to expanded editions.

The country breakdown is unusual too. France was FC 27’s biggest PlayStation market with $82.5 million, ahead of the US ($68.4 million) and the UK ($61.3 million).

All these figures are Alinea Analytics estimates, not official Electronic Arts financial data. Still, they show the key takeaway: FC 27 barely grew its audience over the previous installment but significantly increased revenue per buyer — mainly thanks to PlayStation and expensive digital editions.
