Casio Turns G-Shock Into Sushi: Company Releases Watch Collection Shaped Like Tuna, Salmon and Roe

In October 2026, Casio’s Japanese division will start selling an unusual gastronomic collection of G-Shock watches. The brand’s designers took three iconic case shapes as a starting point and completely reworked their appearance, drawing inspiration from traditional types of sushi. Releases like this are a classic tactic for the company in its home market, where everyday wearable accessories are often turned into bright limited-edition merchandise packed with small details.

The lineup includes three devices, each mimicking a specific dish and featuring its own color scheme. The basic rectangular DW-5600SSH-4JR is dedicated to maguro tuna. Its case and strap are molded from translucent red bio-resin, the dial carries a fish fillet pattern, and green accents represent a portion of wasabi. This version will cost 19,250 yen (about $120) in Japan.

The second model, DW-6900SSH-1JR, visually recreates gunkan maki with salmon roe. The massive black bezel plays the role of a nori sheet, the dial texture mimics a scattering of roe, and the white inner side of the strap evokes rice. These watches are priced at 20,350 yen (roughly $130).

Knife-shaped hands and an engraved teacup

The most elaborate design went to the analog-digital GA-2100SSH-4A at 21,450 yen ($135). Its bright orange dial reproduces the texture of fatty salmon, the main pair of hands is cut in the shape of traditional Japanese kitchen knives, and the small indicator on the sub-dial is shaped like nigiri sushi. Structurally, this version relies on the signature Carbon Core Guard protective structure.

The whole collection shares one Easter egg on the metal case back: the engineers engraved a classic Japanese teacup there, which in restaurant culture symbolizes the end of a meal. Otherwise, these are familiar Japanese-assembled G-Shocks (production takes place at the Yamagata Casio factory) with shock resistance, water resistance to 200 meters, timers, an alarm and a backlight.

So far, the company has not announced plans to bring the “sushi watches” to the global market. At launch, the collection is intended exclusively for Japanese buyers, so fans of unconventional G-Shocks in other countries will have to look for the new items through intermediaries.
