Forza Horizon 6 Coming to PS5 Before End of 2026 as Developers Debunk Delay Rumors

Playground Games has put an end to rumors regarding a potential delay of Forza Horizon 6 on PlayStation 5. The developers officially confirmed that the arcade racer will launch on Sony’s console before the end of 2026, as originally planned. The game’s store page is already live on the PlayStation Store, allowing users to add the title to their wishlist.

Debunking Insider Reports and Microsoft’s Schedule

The announcement appeared in the official Forza blog alongside the reveal of the British Automotive seasonal update. Addressing Sony platform owners, the developers offered a clear comment: “Forza Horizon 6 will launch on PS5 later this year.”

This statement refutes insider reports that circulated in late August. At the time, The Verge journalist Tom Warren reported that the game’s Sony console port should not be expected in 2026 due to shifting development priorities. However, neither publisher Microsoft nor the developers had ever announced such a delay.

The studio remains on track with the roadmap outlined during January’s Xbox Developer_Direct showcase. The game debuted on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 19, 2026, making the timed exclusivity window ahead of its launch on the Japanese platform just over six months.

PlayStation Store Listing Status

In the PlayStation Store catalog, the exact launch date is currently listed as “TBD.” The final release date, along with the opening of pre-orders, will most likely be revealed at an upcoming Sony autumn showcase.

The sixth installment in the franchise takes the automotive festival to Japan, featuring an open world with neon metropolises, mountain drift roads, and a launch roster of over 550 meticulously recreated cars. For Microsoft, bringing its flagship racing sim to a direct competitor’s platform marks a logical continuation of its multiplatform strategy: last year’s Forza Horizon 5 posted strong sales on PS5, and the sequel aims to repeat that commercial success.
