MSI Unveils 34-Inch QD-OLED Monitor for Mac with 144Hz Refresh Rate and 98W Power Delivery

MSI announced the PRO MAX 341QPXW14G, a 34-inch ultrawide monitor optimized for MacBook laptops, Mac Studio workstations, and iPad tablets. The new display features a fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with a 3440 × 1440 resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and an expanded suite of tools for controlling multiple computers simultaneously.

Penta Tandem Panel, Sharp Text, and 1,300 Nits Peak Brightness

The monitor is built around Samsung Display’s Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel featuring a five-layer emitting structure. This architecture increases luminous efficiency by 30%, boosts peak HDR brightness to 1,300 nits, and extends OLED lifespan.

The main advantage for document work is the switch to an RGB Stripe subpixel layout, which eliminates color fringing around text—a noticeable flaw of earlier OLED monitors when displaying small fonts in macOS. The 21:9 panel features a 0.03ms response time, covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 97.4% of Adobe RGB with factory-calibrated Delta E ≤ 2 accuracy, backed by Pantone and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certifications.

The DarkArmor anti-reflective coating reduces ambient light dispersion, delivering 40% deeper black levels in bright room lighting. To protect against burn-in, the display integrates the OLED Care 3.0 suite of algorithms with a user presence sensor and a three-year manufacturer warranty covering burn-in.

Mac Ecosystem Integration, KVM Switch, and Up to 98W Power Delivery

Engineers paid special attention to integration with the Apple ecosystem:

• The proprietary MSI M-Mate app lets users adjust monitor brightness and volume directly from MacBook function keys (via M-Sync), while the M-Color profile synchronizes color settings with the laptop screen;
• The built-in KVM 2.0 switch allows controlling three devices (such as a Mac, Windows PC, and iPad) using a single keyboard and mouse set;
• In Picture-by-Picture mode, the display supports direct file drag-and-drop between connected systems.

Port selection includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4a, a USB hub, and two USB-C interfaces supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode. The primary Type-C port delivers up to 98W of power via Power Delivery, allowing users to power and charge a laptop over a single cable.

According to MSI’s press release, retail pricing and exact release dates will be announced closer to the start of retail shipments.
