Real Wild West Marshal Turned Cyborg: Netflix Reveals Steampunk Western Bass X Machina Teaser

Streaming service Netflix has released the debut teaser for the adult animated series Bass X Machina. The project reimagines the life of legendary 19th-century lawman Bass Reeves, placing him in an alternate steampunk world filled with sentient giant robots, cyborg gangs, and monsters.
All episodes are set to premiere on November 3, 2026.
Historical Prototype in a World of Giant Machines
The real Bass Reeves went down in U.S. history as one of the first Black deputy federal marshals west of the Mississippi River, making over 3,000 arrests of dangerous criminals during three decades of impeccable service.
However, in the series from the creator of The Boondocks, Yasuke, and Cannon Busters, LeSean Thomas, the familiar Wild West gives way to a grotesque cyberpunk wasteland:
- The protagonist is equipped with a powerful mechanical cyber-arm;
- He faces off against outlaws with futuristic weapons, mechanical battle bulls, and giant walking mechs;
- Struggling to protect his family, Bass is forced to act as “judge, jury, and executioner” on the frontier.
