Swappable Battery and 200W Amplifiers: Marshall Launches the Compact Bromley 150 Party Speaker

Marshall has added the Bromley 150 to its lineup of loud party speakers. It’s the most compact speaker in the series, but its main advantage isn’t its size. The manufacturer focused on repairability and longevity: the device gets a removable battery that lasts 40 hours and a modular design with easily replaceable parts.

Despite being the “junior” model at 6.3 kg, the hardware inside is serious. A 6.5-inch subwoofer paired with a 7.5-inch passive radiator handles the deep bass. Two 2-inch full-range drivers cover the mids and highs (some online reports incorrectly said 2.5 inches, but Marshall’s official specs confirm the 2-inch size). Three Class D amplifiers with a combined 200W of power drive the system, producing 97 dB of sound pressure. Marshall’s True Stereophonic 360° technology spreads sound evenly around the room.

Karaoke, Guitars and Bluetooth with Auracast

The Bromley 150 isn’t just designed as a speaker for your smartphone — it’s also a portable base for musicians. Two combo XLR/6.35 mm inputs on the back panel let you plug in a microphone and guitar directly, a great setup for street performances or karaoke at home. Built-in LED lighting behind the grille handles the light show, with three modes that pulse to the beat.

Wireless connectivity is up to current standards too: the speaker runs Bluetooth 5.3 with Auracast support for broadcasting to multiple devices, Multipoint, and the modern power-efficient LC3 codec.

The Right to Repair and Endless Battery Life

The most interesting change is in the approach to power. The speaker runs on a removable LiFePO4 Marshall Battery 415, according to a company press release. You can pull the battery out in seconds and charge it separately, or swap in a spare right in the middle of a party. A full charge takes about three hours, and 20 minutes at an outlet gives you up to five hours of playback.

For users, this approach solves the main problem with portable speakers: when the battery cells degrade after a few years, you won’t have to take the device to a service center, tear open the case or throw it away. Modularity isn’t limited to the battery — Marshall made the carrying handle, front grille, corner bumpers and volume knobs easy to replace.

The speaker’s body is dust- and splash-resistant to the IP55 standard. The Bromley 150 goes on sale October 13 for $499.99. An extra battery costs $119.99.
