Tesla Engineers Design $295 ‘Aerodynamic’ Cybercab-Style Pickleball Paddle

Tesla has expanded its lifestyle accessory lineup with the Aurum Pickleball Paddle, a premium paddle co-developed with leading sports brand Selkirk. Inspired by the design of Tesla’s Cybercab robotaxi, the paddle features signature gold accents and is available in limited quantities on the US Tesla Shop.
Unlike typical branded merchandise, this sports gear was developed with the help of Tesla’s in-house automotive aerodynamics and industrial design engineers.
Bringing Automotive Aerodynamics to Sports Gear

According to Popular Science, Tesla’s team modeled airflow around the paddle using the same computational methods applied to electric vehicle design.
The engineers developed an edgeless, open-throat design that significantly reduces aerodynamic drag, allowing players to generate faster swing speeds during backswings and offensive shots.
Advanced Tech and Tournament Certification
The paddle is built on advanced technology from Selkirk Labs:
- Vibration absorption: A 16mm PureFoam core combined with a TPU Power Ring polymer perimeter expands the sweet spot and dampens feedback to the wrist.
- Ball spin: The proprietary InfiniGrit textured surface retains its grip three times longer than standard raw carbon fiber.
- Customizable balance: The MOI Tuning weight system allows players to adjust mass distribution to match their playstyle.
Weighing between 221 and 230 grams with a length of 16.4 inches, the paddle is far from a mere novelty item. It is a high-performance piece of sports equipment that has received official USA Pickleball (USAP) certification for tournament play.

Pricing and High Demand
The base Tesla Aurum retails for $295, while a bundle including a custom protective cover is priced at $350. The company’s previous collaboration, the Tesla Plaid Paddle, sold for $350 and sold out completely in just three hours, quickly appearing on the secondary market at inflated prices.
