WWII Action Movie ‘Lucky Strike’ Starring Scott Eastwood from ‘The Outpost’ Director Hits Theaters

The WWII drama Lucky Strike, directed by Rod Lurie, has premiered in theaters. Starring Scott Eastwood in the lead role, the film draws inspiration from WWII veterans’ memoirs and the events of the Battle of the Bulge.

The story follows U.S. Army Officer John Castle, whose unit was destroyed during a German counteroffensive. Cut off from Allied forces, the wounded hero attempts to trek over 30 kilometers through snow-covered enemy territory while maintaining contact with headquarters using a Motorola SCR-300 radio. The film’s original title references wartime military cigarette rations.

Casting and Production Details

In an interview with Moviefone, Scott Eastwood admitted that he initially planned to pass on the project, having already starred in several war movies. The actor changed his mind after reading Mark Friedman’s script and agreed to physically demanding location shoots in cold, damp conditions.

The project marks the second collaboration between Eastwood and director Rod Lurie following the military drama ‘The Outpost’. Featuring a budget of roughly $10 million, the film also stars Colin Hanks, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Taylor John Smith, with a runtime of 103 minutes.
