CD Projekt RED Hints at Gwent’s Return in The Witcher 4, Announces New Cards for The Witcher 3 Expansion

CD Projekt RED has effectively confirmed the return of the Gwent card game in the upcoming The Witcher 4. According to PC Gamer, the studio fully understands how much the minigame means to the community and is confident fans won’t be disappointed.
The developers noted that Gwent has become an integral part of the franchise’s identity. While the company has yet to release the final list of gameplay mechanics for the next numbered entry in the series, the team dropped a clear hint that card matches will return in the new saga.
New Cards in “Songs of the Past” and Gamescom Showcase
According to TechRadar, the card game is also getting official updates in the series’ third installment: the newly announced major story expansion, The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, will include a fresh collection of Gwent cards.
The expansion is comparable in scale to Blood and Wine. A detailed presentation of Songs of the Past will take place on August 25 during Gamescom Opening Night Live, as noted in CD Projekt’s announcement. At the same time, the studio confirmed it continues to work on official cross-platform custom mod support.
