Rare Yellow Ferrari F50 Sells at Auction for Record $14.575 Million

A 1996 Ferrari F50 finished in the rare factory shade of Giallo Modena was sold at Mecum Monterey during Monterey Car Week. The final price tag, including the auction house buyer’s fee, came to $14.575 million, setting an all-time auction record for the model.
According to Autoevolution, chassis number 106690 is the 239th of 349 examples produced in the series. Only 31 cars left the factory painted in Giallo Modena yellow.

The car had covered 7,253 km at the time of sale. It retains its original V12 engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and Ferrari Classiche certification with the Red Book. The car is fitted with a custom Tubi exhaust system, though the factory muffler was preserved and included with the sale. Along with the vehicle, the buyer received a flight case for storing the hardtop, a set of Schedoni fitted luggage, original tools, and a pair of Tod’s Ferrari F50 racing boots custom-tailored for the first owner.
Comparison with Previous F50 Sales

As reported by The Supercar Blog, the previous price record for an F50 was set in January 2026, when a low-mileage red example sold for $12.21 million.
At the same time, another Ferrari F50, previously owned by boxer Mike Tyson, was sold at RM Sotheby’s for $12.105 million. However, the rare factory paint job and complete set of original accessories helped the yellow supercar outperform the celebrity-owned car by nearly $2.5 million.
