AI Boom Creates New Generation of Super-Rich: How AI Is Reshaping the Luxury Market

The rapid rise in market capitalization of AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic has created a new wave of young multimillionaires and billionaires. According to an investigation by the Financial Times, the tech elite is rewriting the rules of the luxury industry, favoring privacy, wellness, and digital services over ostentatious displays of status.
According to the UBS Global Wealth Report, the number of US dollar billionaires worldwide grew by 13.1% over the past 12 months to a record 3,302, with more than a thousand living in the US. Tech stock rallies and soaring valuations for generative AI startups contributed significantly to this growth.
The market’s initial reaction was a surge in luxury real estate across tech hubs: according to The Guardian, the median price of a single-family home in San Francisco jumped by nearly 25% year-over-year, reaching $2.1 million.
New Consumer Habits: Crypto Payments, Starlink, and Customization
Luxury goods manufacturers are seeing a sharp drop in client age, with some customers who made fortunes from AI stocks and equity options not yet 25 years old. Business aviation operator Flexjet noted that the average age of its clients dropped by about ten years. Young entrepreneurs prefer booking flights through mobile apps, paying with cryptocurrency, and bypassing traditional concierge brokers.
Instead of alcohol and traditional status symbols, this new generation demands healthy dining options and complete privacy. In the yachting sector, classic “floating palaces” are giving way to high-speed expedition vessels equipped with Starlink satellite terminals, Peloton fitness gear, hydrofoils, and diving stations.
High-end automakers like Ferrari and Lamborghini face growing demand for extreme personalization: buyers order rare exterior paint shades and swap out their supercars after just six months to get the latest models.
