Genshin Impact Creators Announce Dark Co-Op Action RPG Nodus Fall on Unreal Engine 5

At the opening of Gamescom 2026, HoYoverse officially announced action RPG Nodus Fall. Developed by the creators of Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, the title departs from the studio’s traditional style with a realistic dark fantasy look on Unreal Engine 5, blending Monster Hunter-style co-op colossus hunts with the grim atmosphere of Elden Ring.

This marks HoYoverse’s first large-scale release on Epic Games’ engine, signaling a move away from its signature Unity-based anime visuals.

The Order of Weavers and Mythical Beast Hunts

The game takes place in a world left in ruins following the fall of divine rule. Players step into the shoes of Weavers—warriors who team up to fight ancient giant beasts, dragons, and monsters across ruins, misty swamps, and abandoned temples.

The debut trailer showcased large-scale positional boss encounters, team combo mechanics, and tactical environmental interactions.

Build Leaks and Development Status

According to Kotaku, the game was developed in strict secrecy, though playtest footage leaked online two weeks before the reveal under the codename The Weavers. The leaked videos showcased a stamina system, a varied melee arsenal, and horseback traversal.

The project’s existence was previously hinted at by a spring trademark filing for NODUSFALL by global publisher Cognosphere. HoYoverse emphasized that the title is being developed specifically as a cooperative action RPG rather than a traditional MMORPG.

HoYoverse has not announced a release date for Nodus Fall yet. PlayStation 5 is confirmed as one of the target platforms, with a full list of consoles and PC versions set to be detailed during future showcases.
