Mojang Announces Minecraft’s Wilderness Bound Update: Autumn Forest, Camping Beds, and Abandoned Camps

Mojang has officially revealed the name of the next content update for Minecraft: Wilderness Bound. The update focuses on exploring the wild and camping life, adding a scenic autumn biome, abandoned explorer camps, seat cushions, and a long-awaited mechanic for sleeping without resetting your home spawn point.
Dappled Forest and Mushroom Parkour in the Trees
The centerpiece is the Dappled Forest, a dense autumn woodland with tall poplars whose leaves are painted in bright red, orange, and yellow hues. The biome introduces a new wood type, decorative red shrubs, and shelf mushrooms that grow on trees.
These mushrooms grow directly on tree trunks and act as natural trampolines: you can bounce on them to move between canopies without touching the ground. Rumors circulating online about taming these mushrooms as pets turned out to be fake—they’re purely an interactive environmental element.
Across the Overworld, you’ll now find abandoned camps with tents and chests. Inside these stashes, players can discover rare explorer maps that chart routes to abandoned mines, ocean ruins, Ancient Cities, and Trial Chambers.

Disposable Beds and Long-Awaited Cushions
The developers have tackled a long-standing issue with long-distance raids by adding a straw bed. This item is designed for camping:
- Crafted from three hay bales, it provides four sleeping spots at once;
- It lets you instantly skip the night and thunderstorms without changing your permanent spawn point at your home base;
- The bedroll is single-use and breaks immediately after you wake up (it can’t be used in the Nether or the End).
The game also adds cushions in 16 colors that your character can fully sit on without mods or hidden minecarts. Builders will get stairs and slabs made of wool and concrete, expanding interior design options.

According to a report on the Minecraft Feedback portal, the drop has entered the pre-release phase, indicating an imminent launch. The update will release simultaneously for Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.
