Electric Porsche 718 Boxster Shown in Fresh Renders — Prototype Now Almost Camo-Free

The future electric Porsche 718 Boxster EV has entered the final stretch of factory testing. Using spy shots of a prototype spotted at the Nürburgring race track with almost no protective camouflage, independent artists have recreated what the production model will look like.
A familiar silhouette and slim LED lighting
The published images are not official press renders from the brand, but they capture the production car’s design as accurately as possible. The test prototype has shed its bulky camouflage panels, leaving film only on the headlight and taillight clusters. According to Car and Driver, these shots offered the most detailed look yet at the future roadster’s design in all the years of development.
Judging by the rendering on autoevolution, the new model keeps the recognizable mid-engine silhouette of the 718 family: a low stance, short overhangs and a compact two-seat cabin.
The nose gets new lighting with four LED daytime running elements and prominent active flaps in the bumper, while the rear features a full-width horizontal light bar with an illuminated Porsche lettering.
800-volt architecture and a 2027 launch
The original gasoline versions of the Boxster and Cayman left the assembly line back in October 2025. Despite a review of the pace of electrification across its lineup, Porsche stated outright in its strategic report on Porsche Newsroom that the two-door compact line will go all-electric without canceling the project.
The manufacturer is keeping the successor’s specs under wraps. Experts agree that the car will get an 800-volt platform for fast DC charging. Base versions will have a single electric motor on the rear axle, while high-performance sports variants will get dual-motor all-wheel drive with more than 400 hp.
No official premiere date has been set in Stuttgart yet. However, the open body of the test mule indicates that calibration work is complete: the production electric 718 Boxster is expected to debut in early 2027.
