Fortnite Turns Into a Video Game Museum: New Season Adds Sonic, Mega Man, Tetris Mechanics, and Cheat Codes

Fortnite’s battle royale has kicked off its Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, a season entirely dedicated to legendary gaming franchises. According to Epic Games, the developers didn’t just add skins of iconic characters—they brought recognizable locations, signature abilities, and gameplay mechanics from classic games to the island.
The season’s headliner is Sonic the Hedgehog—his skin unlocks immediately upon purchasing the Battle Pass. The battle royale map now features the iconic Green Hill Zone with its famous loops and green hills, and the loot pool includes Sonic Power Sneakers that let you speed up with Spin Dash and attack enemies mid-air.
Mega Man’s Weapon, Tetris Rifts, and 1-Up Revival
The season’s gameplay arsenal now includes mechanics from different eras of the gaming industry:
- Mega Buster: Mega Man’s cannon, supporting regular shots, charging up a powerful blast, and firing while running or sliding.
- Tetris Rift: Throwing a rift summons falling tetromino blocks, and completing a full line creates a massive healing zone.
- 1-Up Token: This extra-life token lets you respawn on the battlefield with your entire inventory intact.
- God Mode Llama: Temporarily transforms you into a destructive form that sweeps away enemies and structures.
According to Video Games Chronicle, later in the season, the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts, Rebecca’s arsenal from the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and skins and items from Persona 5 Royal, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and Pac-Man will become available.
Override Terminals and Changing Server Rules
The main system addition is the Match Overrides terminals. Players can be the first to reach consoles on the map and activate global modifiers that change the rules for the entire lobby (for example, enabling extreme speed or big-head mode).
Additionally, the game now features Loot Hacks and cheat codes. Sprites from the previous season have been moved to a separate social hub, Sprite Garden, where players can interact with their pets and show off collections to friends.
