Hasee Launches Ares Mini Mini-PC for $297: 8-Core Ryzen 7, Radeon 780M, and eGPU Support

Chinese PC maker Hasee has unveiled the compact Ares Mini R78D desktop powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS processor. With a chassis volume of just 1.34 liters and a starting price of 1,999 yuan (about $297), the device offers integrated Radeon 780M graphics, extensive options for upgrading storage yourself, and a USB4 port for connecting external graphics cards (eGPUs).

Zen 4 Performance and Integrated Radeon 780M Graphics

At the heart of the platform is the eight-core AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS processor from the Hawk Point family (Zen 4 architecture).

According to Notebookcheck’s processor database, the chip has the following specs:

• Configuration: 8 cores and 16 threads with clock speeds up to 4.9 GHz;
• Cache: 16 MB of L3 cache;
• TDP: configurable from 35W to 54W;
• Features: unlike the higher-end Ryzen 7 8845HS, this model lacks a dedicated NPU, which lowers the chip’s cost without sacrificing CPU performance.

Graphics are handled by the integrated Radeon 780M (RDNA 3 architecture, 12 compute units, 768 stream processors) with clock speeds up to 2.6 GHz and hardware decoding for AV1 and HEVC codecs. Its performance is sufficient for smooth frame rates in esports titles and for running modern games at 1080p on low-to-medium settings.

External GPU Support and Full Upgradeability

The Ares Mini’s main advantage over ultra-compact rivals with soldered chips is its modular design. Inside, you’ll find:

• two SO-DIMM slots supporting DDR5-5600 memory;
• two M.2 slots for high-speed NVMe SSDs with PCIe 4.0 interfaces.

For users who eventually outgrow the integrated GPU, there’s a USB4 port with 40 Gbps bandwidth. Through it, you can connect an external dock with a full-size discrete graphics card like an NVIDIA GeForce RTX or AMD Radeon, turning the compact workstation into a powerful gaming or rendering setup.

Ports: Two Ethernet and Six USB-A Connectors

According to the specs on Technetbook, the mini-desktop has an unusually rich set of external ports:

On the front:

• a USB-C port;
• one USB-A 3.0 port and one USB-A 2.0 port.

On the back:

• four USB-A 3.0 ports;
• a USB4 port with video output and eGPU support;
• HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 video outputs;
• two RJ45 Ethernet ports;
• a 3.5mm combo audio jack.

The two independent Ethernet ports make the new model an excellent choice not only for office or home media use, but also as a home server, router, or virtualization node.

Chassis and Pricing

The metal chassis measures just 150 × 150 × 59.5 mm. The top cover features a raised design with chamfered, polished edges to improve airflow to the cooling radiators.
