The Grand Tour Returns with New Hosts: Amazon Reveals Trailer for Reboot Without Clarkson, Hammond, and May

Amazon Prime Video has released the debut trailer for the massive reboot of the automotive show The Grand Tour. For the first time in the show’s history, it will air without the iconic trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May — all six new episodes premiere on September 4, 2026.

Taking over from the departed legends are James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, hosts of the popular automotive YouTube channel Throttle House (3.3 million subscribers), along with blogger Francis Bourgeois. The latter is known not only for his viral train videos but also for his relevant education: he studied mechanical engineering and interned at Rolls-Royce for several years.

Same Formula: Supercars, Deserts, and Explosions

Judging by the first trailer from Car and Driver, Amazon has kept the giant budget and the classic episode structure. Viewers can expect large-scale road tests in Angola with unsuitable cars, a deep dive into Malaysia’s car culture, and tests of American supercars in California.

The footage features hypercars such as the Pagani Utopia, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Ford Mustang GTD, and Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution Evolution, priced at over €2 million. And of course, there’s the signature automotive madness: the trailer shows races against military aircraft, mass drifting in classic sports cars, and a flying Tesla.

Clarkson’s Blessing and Help from the Original Show’s Creator

The original trio isn’t leaving the project entirely. According to The Independent, Clarkson, Hammond, and May will make brief cameo appearances to symbolically pass the torch to the new generation. Clarkson himself has already publicly endorsed the revamped lineup.

Additionally, Andy Wilman — the longtime executive producer of the original Top Gear and The Grand Tour — is involved in the production as the reboot’s lead consultant.

According to Variety, the producers deliberately avoided trying to replicate Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s behavior, instead betting on the natural on-screen chemistry between Engelsman and Holland. All six episodes of the new season of The Grand Tour will be released simultaneously in over 240 countries worldwide.
