Peacock has released the first full trailer for horror series Crystal Lake, a prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise. Linda Cardellini (Green Book, Dead to Me) stars as Pamela Voorhees, mother of the future hockey-masked killer. All eight episodes will premiere on October 15, 2026.
Lake Tragedy and 1970s Paranoia
The events take place long before the bloody massacre at the Camp Crystal Lake summer camp. According to the official synopsis from A24, the story begins nearly a year after the death of young Jason, who drowned in the lake due to the counselors’ negligence.
Unable to come to terms with her loss, Pamela faces the arrival of two strangers in town who begin asking locals about her family, sparking a series of disturbing incidents. Rather than crafting a straightforward story about madness, the creators focus on the mother’s psychological drama and the hidden sins of the local community.
Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry) serves as showrunner. As reported by Variety, the creators crafted the project in the style of 1970s paranoid thrillers, blending classic slasher elements with heavy use of practical special effects and a dark visual tone.

Cast and Full-Season Release
Callum Vinson stars as young Jason Voorhees. The cast also features William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
As noted by Deadline, the series marks the first official expansion of the franchise following years of protracted legal battles over rights to the original character.
According to the schedule on the Peacock platform website, all eight episodes of the project will drop simultaneously on October 15, 2026, kicking off the Halloween release season.
