16 Years After Browser Launch, Legendary Happy Wheels Is Coming to Steam Ad-Free

The iconic dark comedy Happy Wheels, which defined YouTube Let’s Plays in the early 2010s, is officially launching on Steam on September 21, 2026. The game’s page from long-time creator Jim Bonacci and studio Fancy Force is already live on Valve’s platform, allowing players to add it to their wishlist.
Five Million Levels and Controller Support
The original Happy Wheels debuted in web browsers in June 2010. The physics-based sandbox quickly blew up online thanks to its blend of ragdoll physics, cartoonish gore, and traps: players navigated obstacle courses on rocket-powered wheelchairs, Segways, or bicycles, losing limbs along the way to the finish line.
According to the Happy Wheels Steam page, the release version will drop ads entirely and introduce several technical improvements:
- Full controller support;
- A built-in user content browser with access to an archive of over 5 million maps accumulated across sixteen years of the game’s history;
- Steam Family Sharing support and stable performance on Windows and Linux.
System requirements remain minimal: running the simulator requires just 4GB of RAM and integrated graphics equivalent to Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Life After the Flash Era and Price Details
The game successfully survived the end of the 2000s web era. In late 2020, right before Adobe Flash was permanently shut down, Bonacci ported the engine to HTML5 and JavaScript, preserving player profiles, high scores, and custom levels on the TotalJerkface website servers.
The pricing model for the Steam release remains undisclosed: the developers haven’t specified whether the game will be free-to-play or carry a nominal price tag. Meanwhile, the creator notes that he still plans to make a full-fledged Happy Wheels 2 on a new engine, though he hasn’t shared any specific release dates for the sequel yet.
