CD Projekt RED Fixes The Witcher 3 Remastered Again as Players Complain About Overly Aggressive Bloom

CD Projekt RED is still refining The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, which launched on September 29. After players complained about an overly aggressive Bloom effect, the studio confirmed it is preparing additional changes for all platforms and expects to include them in the next patch.
Bloom controls the glow around bright light sources and has a noticeable effect on how lighting is perceived. After the Remastered release, some players started turning the effect off entirely because in certain scenes the image looked too blown out and “soapy.”
Marcin Momot, CD Projekt RED’s global community director, said the team is already looking into the issue. There is no exact date for the next update yet.
The first Bloom fixes are already out on PC
The developers, however, began fixing the lighting before the larger patch.
On October 1, CD Projekt RED released hotfix 5.00c for PC, which made several visual changes in Velen. The studio adjusted Bloom, foliage lighting, color saturation and Path Tracing lighting.
So the upcoming update will not be the first Bloom fix, but a broader rework of the effect that covers the entire game.
The same hotfix resolved a bug that could prevent saving and loading when the path to the “Documents” folder contained special characters, fixed voices that were too quiet after switching menu tabs, and addressed an achievement issue in GOG.
CDPR also rolled back one of the HairWorks changes that caused severe performance drops and graphical artifacts for some players.
Console versions are still being fixed too
The same day, patch 5.00b arrived for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC.
It brought DLSS back to Xbox Play Anywhere, fixed interiors that were too dark, and made additional lighting changes to bring the console versions closer to the visual result on PC.
Beyond Bloom, the developers are continuing to investigate other Remastered issues. In particular, CD Projekt RED has already confirmed it is working on a separate audio fix for consoles.
So the Bloom situation is gradually improving, but the problem cannot yet be considered fully resolved. The first changes have already appeared in version 5.00c on PC, and a larger patch for all platforms is in development.
