Fast 11 director Louis Leterrier admits he hasn’t read the Fast Forever script yet

Louis Leterrier, the director of the final installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, has yet to read the full script for Fast Forever (Fast 11). In an interview with Collider, the filmmaker explained that he is currently busy working on another movie and will only begin a detailed breakdown of the text once that project is complete.

Leterrier is currently focused on filming and producing the contained sci-fi horror movie 1212 for Universal. The director noted that he cannot effectively immerse himself in two large-scale projects at once, so he will start reviewing the script by Michael Lesslie (writer of Now You See Me 3) during the editing phase of his current film. That said, Leterrier is already aware of the key plot twists for the finale, and Vin Diesel previously described the new film’s plot as “stunning.”

Cancellation of the Rock spin-off and the return of the star-studded cast

In parallel, Universal has adjusted its production plans. The initially announced spin-off Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Reyes, which was set to feature Dwayne Johnson facing off against Jason Momoa’s character, has been officially put on hold due to budget cuts. The entire storyline and the conflict between Hobbs and Dante Reyes have been rewritten and integrated directly into the plot of Fast 11.

Despite the unfinished work on the script, contracts with key actors are already being signed. Gal Gadot (Gisele Yashar) and Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) are guaranteed to return for Fast Forever, and negotiations are underway for Eva Mendes to reprise her role as Monica Fuentes.

The world premiere of Fast Forever is scheduled for March 17, 2028.
