Fast & Furious 11 Director Louis Leterrier Admits He Hasn’t Read the Script Yet

Louis Leterrier, director of the final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, has yet to read the full script for Fast Forever (Fast & Furious 11). In an interview with Collider, the filmmaker explained that he’s busy working on another film and will only dive into the script once that project is complete.

Leterrier is currently focused on shooting and producing the intimate sci-fi horror “1212” for Universal. The director noted that he can’t effectively immerse himself in two large-scale projects at once, so he’ll start studying Michael Lesslie’s script (author of Now You See Me 3) during the editing phase of his current film. That said, Leterrier already knows the key plot twists of the finale, and Vin Diesel has previously called the new film’s story “stunning.”

Spinoff with The Rock Canceled, Star-Studded Cast Returns

Meanwhile, Universal has adjusted its production plans. The previously announced spinoff Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Reyes, where Dwayne Johnson was set to face off against Jason Momoa’s character, has been officially put on hold due to budget cuts. The entire storyline and conflict between Hobbs and Dante Reyes have been rewritten and integrated directly into the plot of Fast & Furious 11.

Despite the unfinished script, contracts with key actors are already being signed. Gal Gadot (Gisele Yashar) and Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) are confirmed to return in Fast Forever, and negotiations are underway for Eva Mendes to reprise her role as Monica Fuentes.

The worldwide premiere of Fast Forever is set for March 17, 2028.
