Local Processing via WebGPU and FSR Algorithms
Privacy protection is the tool’s main highlight: all processing runs directly inside the browser using the GPU via the WebGPU API (or on the CPU if no compatible graphics card is available). According to TapirConvert’s privacy policy, videos and photos are not transmitted to remote servers, and the site includes no ad trackers.
For video files with a resolution of 720p and higher, the tool uses hardware spatial FSR upscaling, while lower-quality clips rely on a neural network super-resolution model. At 2× scaling, standard 1080p video converts into full 4K UHD (3840×2160 pixels).
Supported Formats and Technical Limitations
For still images, the platform provides an Image Upscaler module that accepts PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WEBP formats, outputting results as PNG. The video module supports MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WEBM containers, exporting the final file as MP4.
The platform imposes no artificial limits on file size or count, though maximum video length is bounded by the computer’s available system RAM and VRAM.
