Separate Ways Devs Working on Major Story Expansion for Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom is working on a major story expansion for its recent horror hit Resident Evil Requiem. According to insiders at MP1st, development of the additional story campaign was entrusted to Japanese studios M-Two and K2—the same duo behind the Resident Evil 4 remake and its highly acclaimed Separate Ways story DLC featuring Ada Wong.

Studio K2 officially lists Separate Ways among its joint projects with Capcom, while Resident Evil Requiem is included among the titles its team directly worked on.

The Legacy of Separate Ways and Confirmed Development Status

Released in fall 2023, the Separate Ways expansion served as a full-fledged parallel storyline that unfolded the events of the main game from an alternate perspective. Bringing back the same dev team suggests Capcom plans to release a similarly detailed and comprehensive story DLC for Requiem.

The development itself is no rumor: back in the spring, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi confirmed in an interview with Gematsu that the studio was working on “additional story content” designed to delve deeper into the game’s lore and world.

The horror game Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, surpassing 5 million copies sold in under two weeks. The game previously received a free hardcore mode called Leon Must Die Forever this spring, and Capcom is now gearing up for the next phase of content support.

Possible Gamescom 2026 Reveal

Insiders expect the first teaser for the DLC to debut at Gamescom Opening Night Live, which traditionally kicks off Europe’s largest gaming event in Cologne on August 25.

While Capcom hasn’t officially announced its main-stage schedule yet, the game’s status as one of the year’s biggest commercial blockbusters makes a first trailer reveal quite likely.
