Suzuki Unveils e-Sky Compact EV: 310 km Range From Just a 26 kWh Battery

Japanese automaker Suzuki has detailed the production-spec Suzuki e-Sky compact EV. Designed around maximum weight reduction, the five-door kei car weighs around 1 ton and delivers up to 310 km of range from a modest 26 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery.
The model is the brand’s first dedicated passenger electric kei car.
Energy Efficiency and 25-Minute Charging
The production model evolved from last year’s Vision e-Sky concept, with engineers boosting estimated WLTC range from 270 km to 310 km. Average energy consumption is just 97 Wh/km.
According to Motor1, the LFP battery supports DC fast charging at up to 50 kW, enabling an 80% charge in 25 minutes. Charging from a 6 kW home wallbox takes roughly 4.5 hours.
The EV features vehicle-to-load (V2L) bidirectional charging: an integrated 100V cabin outlet outputs up to 1,500 W, allowing the car’s battery to power home appliances during trips or power outages.
HEARTECT e Platform and Kei Car Dimensions
Underpinning the EV is the new HEARTECT e architecture, optimized specifically for an electric powertrain. The traction battery is integrated into the floor, lowering the center of gravity without sacrificing interior space.
The car’s dimensions are:
- Length: 3,395 mm;
- Width: 1,475 mm;
- Height: 1,625 mm;
- Wheelbase: 2,460 mm;
- Curb weight: 1,030 kg (hundreds of kilograms lighter than European rivals).
The front wheels are driven by a compact integrated eAxle module producing 47 kW (around 64 hp) and 133 Nm of torque, matching Japan’s regulatory power limit for the kei car class.
Interior Tech and Release Schedule
Inside, the EV features a 10.1-inch touchscreen and an energy-efficient heat pump with a supplementary heater to warm the cabin quickly in winter without severe range drops.
According to Carscoops, official Japanese sales of the Suzuki e-Sky will begin in autumn 2026. Suzuki plans to evaluate exporting the model to Europe and the UK later to compete in the budget segment against the Dacia Spring and Renault Twingo E-Tech.
