A 710-HP Purple Amethyst: Singer Unveils a Wild New Porsche 911 DLS Turbo With a Giant Wing

California-based Singer Vehicle Design, known for reimagining classic sports cars from Stuttgart, has unveiled another one-off restomod as part of its extreme DLS Turbo program. The new customer project features a body in a rich Amethyst purple, a light leather interior with vintage plaid, and a track-focused aero kit with a monumental wing.

The DLS Turbo (Dynamics & Lightweighting Study) program draws inspiration from the legendary 1977 Porsche 934/5 race car, as Singer explains in detail. The donor is always a classic 964-generation Porsche 911 owned by the customer. The car is stripped to bare metal, the monocoque’s structure is reinforced, and it is redressed in wide carbon-fiber panels.

The new example stands out for its complex Amethyst paint: depending on the angle of the light, the body shifts from deep purple to an almost black eggplant tone. The contrast comes from exposed textured carbon fiber on the splitter and diffuser, along with magnesium wheels with a racing center-lock single nut.

A Retro Interior With a Custom Cage

Inside, the sports car pairs spartan motorsport elements with luxurious trim, according to the automotive outlet Carscoops. Anatomical carbon-fiber bucket seats are upholstered in light Bone-colored leather, while the center seat inserts and door cards are finished in a dense textile with multicolored plaid in purple, green and blue tones.

Even the massive diagonal X-shaped safety brace behind the front seats has been given a decorative finish in the same color scheme as the interior.

Twin Turbos at 9,000 RPM and a Proper Manual

An engineering masterpiece hides under the rear decklid. The original flat-six from the 964 generation is bored out and modified into a 3.8-liter six-cylinder unit with two turbochargers and electronically controlled wastegates. The engine can safely rev to 9,000 rpm — an incredible figure for a turbocharged engine — producing 710 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. Cooling is a hybrid setup: the cylinder heads are liquid-cooled, while the cylinders themselves retain their historic air cooling.

There are no trendy automatic gearboxes or paddle shifters here. All the power goes exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. At the same time, the creators did not forget about safety: a modern custom ABS unit, traction control and stability control were developed by Bosch engineers specifically for the Singer chassis.

The company traditionally does not disclose the official price of a specific car — each project is built as a one-off to an individual order. For a sense of scale, though: auction-house experts valued a previous similar example from the DLS Turbo series (the Sepang Commission) at between $3.5 million and $5 million, which puts restomods like these on par with the rarest modern hypercars.
