Xiaomi Launches Titanium Thermos That Lets You Control Tea Strength With a Simple Flip

Xiaomi has expanded its Mijia line of houseware with an unusual accessory for tea lovers — the Mijia Titanium Thermos Cup Tea-Water Separation Edition. It’s a half-liter thermos with a special compartment that lets you control the extraction of your drink by simply flipping the bottle upside down. According to Gizmochina, this mechanism solves the main problem with brewing loose-leaf tea on the go — the excessive bitterness that comes from steeping the leaves in boiling water for too long.
How the smart filter works

The thermos has a two-part design. The upper section holds a clear brewing chamber made of durable food-grade Tritan plastic (BPA-free), separated from the main body by a titanium strainer. To brew a drink, you add leaves to the top compartment, pour hot water into the lower flask, and flip the closed thermos over.
The boiling water flows into the clear chamber, where you can visually monitor the color and strength of the infusion. Once the tea reaches the desired strength, you just return the bottle to an upright position: the finished drink drains back down, while the wet leaves stay sealed at the top, permanently stopping the extraction.
Beyond classic tea, Xiaomi suggests using this mechanism for herbal blends and drinks with lemon, ginseng, or dried mandarin peel. If you don’t need the brewing section, you can unscrew the clear upper chamber entirely and close the flask directly, turning the device into a regular travel thermos.
Premium materials and launch

The inner flask, removable filter, and lid liner are made of pure titanium with a purity above 99%. The choice of this metal is no accident: it’s lighter than traditional stainless steel, resists corrosion from fruit acids, and doesn’t oxidize, so it doesn’t give hot drinks a distinctive metallic aftertaste. The claimed heat retention time is about six hours — after that, the liquid inside will still be around 45 °C, which is optimal for comfortable, safe drinking without the risk of burns.
According to the Chinese publication ITHome, the model comes in two colors: Moonlight Silver and Deep Space Gray. The product launches on October 14, 2026, as part of a crowdfunding campaign on Xiaomi Youpin. The retail price at launch will be 199 yuan (about $28-30). The manufacturer traditionally doesn’t announce plans for an official global release, but Mijia ecosystem gadgets like this usually make their way to international marketplaces quickly through independent sellers.
