Xiaomi Unveils HyperOS 4 With ‘Soft Light Glass’ UI and Super XiaoAI 2.0 AI Assistant

Xiaomi has announced the HyperOS 4 operating system, featuring an updated Soft Light Glass visual style with translucent layers and lighting effects reminiscent of the Liquid Glass concept from iOS 26. According to 91mobiles, public beta testing for the firmware kicked off in China on August 14.
The new Soft Light Glass design relies on adaptive transparency that adjusts blur intensity based on text readability and the surrounding background. Due to high graphics processing requirements, the full glass and dynamic lighting effects are supported only on flagship chipsets: Snapdragon 8 Elite, MediaTek Dimensity 9500, and Xiaomi’s proprietary 3nm XRING O1 processor.
The system interface also adds resizable folders, widget stacking, and updated lock screen customization tools.
Optimization and Performance Gains
According to Xiaomi’s internal lab tests, the new kernel architecture improved system responsiveness during prolonged use:
- Sequential launch time for 30 apps after 9 hours of continuous use dropped by 17.5%;
- The number of dropped frames under heavy loads decreased by 28.9%;
- On the Xiaomi 15 Pro, 27.2% more free RAM remains after 8 hours of use compared to HyperOS 3.
Super XiaoAI 2.0 Assistant Features
A key system update is the integration of the Super XiaoAI 2.0 voice assistant, powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary MiMo language models. The assistant gained screen context reading, automatic note transcription, cross-device gadget control, and multi-step task execution within installed apps.
The timeline for the international rollout of global device firmware will be announced later on the official HyperOS portal.
