Xiaomi 18 Fold debuts with in-house Xring O3 chip, 200MP Leica camera, and 6000mAh battery

Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new flagship foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in China. The device stands out not only for its slim 5.02mm profile when unfolded and a hefty 6000mAh battery, but also for a major technological shift: it runs on a 3nm Xring O3 processor of Xiaomi’s own design, paired with next-generation RAM from Chinese memory maker CXMT. The base model will set buyers back roughly $1,540.
Xring O3 chip and LPDDR6 memory from CXMT
The headline feature of the release is the move away from Qualcomm platforms to Xiaomi’s own silicon. The Xring O3 chipset packs ten CPU cores with a peak clock speed of up to 4.35GHz and a 16-core GPU. According to Notebookcheck, the company claims a 52% performance boost over the previous Xring O1 revision and promises performance on par with rival flagships. However, real-world results have yet to be seen in independent stress tests.
Alongside the processor, the phone debuts fast LPDDR6 RAM from Chinese manufacturer CXMT. As Reuters reported, the companies optimized the chip architecture for domestic memory chips, allowing Xiaomi to significantly reduce its reliance on imported components.
Leica Summilux optics and a 6000mAh battery
The phone features an unusually wide cover display: a 5.38-inch panel with a resolution of 1712 × 1168 pixels. Inside, a 7.58-inch foldable AMOLED screen offers a 2364 × 1672 resolution. Both displays support a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4000 nits. The device weighs just 219 grams and is sealed to the IP59 standard.
As usual, the camera system was co-engineered with Leica:
- A 200MP main sensor (1/1.56-inch optical format) with Leica Summilux lenses and 8K video recording;
- A 50MP ultrawide module;
- A 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom.
Despite the minimal thickness of the halves, the device packs a silicon-carbon battery with a 6000mAh capacity, supporting 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.

On the company’s official website, the base 12/256GB version is priced at the equivalent of $1,540, while the higher-end model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage goes for around $2,100. The company hasn’t announced a global release yet, and the device may remain exclusive to the Chinese market.
