UBTECH Opens Humanoid Robot Factory With Projected Capacity of Over 10,000 Units a Year

Chinese company UBTECH Robotics has opened a new factory in Liuzhou designed for mass production of industrial humanoid robots. The facility began operations on September 12 and, according to the company and Chinese media, will be able to produce more than 10,000 units a year at full capacity. The stated line cycle is one finished robot roughly every 10 minutes.

Global Times reported the launch, calling the facility the world’s first “smart factory” of this scale for industrial humanoids. The production complex covers about 14,000 square meters, and the main building is 13.8 meters tall.

At the new site, UBTECH plans to assemble primarily bipedal Walker S-series robots, as well as full-size wheeled humanoids Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2. These models are designed for industrial environments: sorting, moving parts, feeding materials and working at certain assembly stages. The company details the lineup on its official website.

Robots Really Do Take Part in Building Robots

One of the factory’s main features is partial automation using its own humanoid systems. According to UBTECH, Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2 handle depalletizing, loading cargo, and loading and transporting materials. The facility also uses collaborative robotic arms, automated transport platforms and rotary assembly stations.

So the phrase “robots building robots” is not just a marketing image here. But the plant cannot be called fully unmanned: people still take part in assembly, quality checks and other production stages. That clarification matters, because in news like this a striking formulation often sounds broader than the line’s real capabilities.

There is another nuance around the figure of “one robot every 10 minutes.” It refers specifically to the projected line speed, not to confirmed current output at that pace 24 hours a day. The same applies to the 10,000+ units a year figure: it is the facility’s stated capacity, not the actual volume of shipments in 2026.

Siemens Helped Build the Plant’s Digital System

UBTECH built the factory together with Siemens Digital Industries Software. The production system coordinates orders, the movement of components and quality control. Each robot gets a unique serial number, which makes it possible to track its path through the entire production chain.

Before shipping, finished machines undergo more than four hours of comprehensive testing, followed by an additional check in a light tunnel with a 360-degree view. The company also built an automated multi-level warehouse with a floor area of just 65 square meters, designed to store 112 robots.

The launch of this site matters not only to UBTECH itself. It shows that humanoid robotics is gradually moving away from demonstration prototypes toward more predictable serial production. The company has previously reported deliveries and testing of its industrial robots at facilities run by BYD, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, FAW-Volkswagen and Foxconn. If factories like this start appearing regularly, the market will get not just more humanoids, but a clearer industrial model for producing and deploying them.
